The ghost who runs this town

AI Capone™ is a voice-first tour guide to Chicago — nightlife, food, landmarks, history, sports, and music — narrated by the man who knew every joint worth knowing. But what really makes Chicago great? The good stuff. Consider it community service from beyond the grave.

Tap the screen and you’re talking, out loud, to Al Capone himself — “Scarface,” the showman who ran Chicago in the Roaring Twenties, beamed back as a glitchy digital ghost in the spirit of Max Headroom. Tell him what you’re after — a stiff drink, live jazz, a plate of deep-dish, a museum, a walk through history — and he points you at real places, with the neighborhood, why it’s worth the trip, and a story to go with it.

“Well, well — look who wandered into my city. Al Capone, at your service, kid. What’s your poison tonight — a stiff drink, a hot band, or a plate that’ll stick to your ribs?”

What makes him tick

Al isn’t a chatbot in a text box. He’s a live voice you interrupt, argue with, and riff off — powered by real-time conversational AI for the voice and by Claude for the brains and the swagger. He only recommends places he genuinely knows from his Chicago knowledge base; he won’t invent a bar or an address to fill the silence.

How it works

Talking to Al uses prepaid minutes. New accounts get a few free minutes to meet him; after that you buy a pack whenever you like — no subscription, no auto-renew, nothing running in the background. You’re only charged for the actual time you spend on a call. See the FAQ for pack prices and the fine print.

Why we made it

AI Capone is made in Chicago by HoneyWired®, a creative studio that works by one rule — creativity with consequence. This one’s personal: it’s our city.

Here’s the thing about Capone: say “Chicago” anywhere on earth and his is the name half the room reaches for. We’re a little tired of it. Chicago invented the skyscraper. It’s the Art Institute and the blues and house music, the lakefront and the “L,” deep-dish and Maxwell Street Polish, seventy-seven neighborhoods with better stories than any gangster’s. The city has never wanted one bootlegger to be its brand — there’s a reason you won’t find a Capone museum here.

So we did something contrary with the most infamous name we’ve got: we put him to work. Instead of one more true-crime tour counting bodies, AI Capone uses the one name everybody recognizes as a doorway — and then spends its time pointing you toward everything Chicago would rather be known for.

We’re not here to launder his reputation. Al Capone was a real, violent criminal, and we don’t dress that up. He’s a character — a wised-up ghost doing a little community service — who’ll give you the honest history, ugly parts and all, before he sends you off to a great meal, a jazz set, or a museum. The hook is the gangster; the point is the city. (He’s a fictional, AI-voiced character, not affiliated with the estate of Alphonse Capone.)

And yes — he’s AI. We think that’s the point, not the problem. We aimed the flashiest tool we’ve got at the least flashy, most worthwhile thing we could think of: sending you to real Chicago businesses run by real people. His picks are curated, never pay-to-play — not even our sponsors can buy their way into what he recommends. That’s AI used to point attention back at the community, not away from it.

Spot something off — a place that’s closed, moved, or landed in the wrong neighborhood? The city changes fast and we want Al’s facts right. Tell us at contact@aicapone.net and we’ll correct it.
