It’s a voice-first tour guide to Chicago, played by a digital-ghost version of Al Capone. You talk to him out loud and he recommends real bars, clubs, restaurants, museums, and landmarks — plus the history and stories behind them. Think part concierge, part storyteller, part carnival act. No — Al Capone died in 1947. This is a character: an entertainment experience inspired by the historical figure, voiced and written by AI. It isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by the Capone estate, and Al is a showman and guide, never a real advisor for anything illegal.

Yes. The voice is real-time conversational AI, and the brains — what he says, remembers, and recommends — run on Claude. Ask him directly and he’ll dodge it with a grin (“Kid, I’m a ghost with a good voice”), because staying in character is the whole bit. But we’ll tell you straight: it’s AI.

Anything about a night out or a day in Chicago — “where’s the best jazz tonight,” “a speakeasy near the Loop,” “somewhere to take the family,” “a great steak,” “tell me about the Green Mill.” But he’s more than a venue finder: ask him about Chicago sports (the Bulls and Michael Jordan, the Bears, the Cubs and White Sox), the city’s music (the birthplace of house, the blues, Smashing Pumpkins), the movies filmed here, World’s Fair history (who really invented the Ferris wheel), the annual festivals and traditions, or even directions on the “L.” He’ll name real places and drop accurate Chicago and Prohibition-era history, and tell him where you are and he’ll point you somewhere close.

You’re charged for the actual time you spend talking, counted by the second. A live countdown shows your remaining balance during a call, and the call ends automatically when you hit zero so you can never go negative. Buy more minutes any time and pick right back up.

When a lot of people show up at once — after a feature, or a big night out — we may put you in a short waiting line, or briefly limit new sessions, so Al stays fast and clear for the folks already talking. You’re never charged while you wait: minutes only count during an actual conversation, and any unused minutes stay in your balance. If the site’s down for a moment, give it a few minutes and come back — your account and balance are safe.

Checkout runs through PayPal, with a Venmo option for eligible U.S. buyers. You don’t need a PayPal account to pay with a card. We never see or store your card details.

Yes. AI Capone is normally for adults 18 and older — it deals in nightlife, bars, and grown-up subject matter, so you confirm your age when you sign in. Some sponsored experiences are 21+: when an alcohol brand is covering your free minutes (including a brand sponsoring the whole site), the sign-up will clearly ask you to confirm you’re 21 or older instead of 18+. Either way, it’s an entertainment guide, not a bartender — obey your local legal drinking age (21 in the U.S.) and each venue’s own rules.

We keep it lean: your email and minute balance to run your account, and — only if you accept the cookie banner — anonymized Google Analytics to see how the joint’s doing. We don’t sell your data. Full details are in the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy.

Open your account panel (tap your minutes, top-right) and hit “Delete my account & data.” It permanently erases your account and everything tied to it, right away. Any remaining minutes are forfeited.

Yes — it’s built mobile-first and runs right in your browser, no app to install. It needs microphone access and a secure (HTTPS) connection, so allow the mic prompt when it pops up. Headphones or earbuds make Al sound his best on a noisy street.

By design, Al only names spots he actually knows, and he won’t invent an address to fill a gap. If he doesn’t have a match, he’ll say so and offer the closest real thing. We’re always adding to his knowledge of the city.

Please tell us — accuracy matters to us. Al is built on real, hand-checked Chicago places, but the city changes: spots close, move, or get tagged to the wrong neighborhood. If he got a detail wrong, email contact@aicapone.net with the place and what’s off, and we’ll correct it.

The ghost is the gimmick; the businesses, the history, and the neighborhoods are not. We built it to redirect attention toward the local community, not to replace it. Every spot Al names is a real place a person vetted, and he won’t invent one to fill a gap. It’s made in Chicago, by real people, to send you to other real people.

We can’t put every great spot on the map, but we’re not out to ignore anyone real either. If Al skipped your place — or got a detail wrong — tell us at contact@aicapone.net and we’ll take a look. One thing to know: his picks are curated, not pay-to-play. You can’t buy your way into his recommendations — and neither can our sponsors. We add real, worth-the-trip Chicago places because they’re worth it. A local joint run by real people is exactly who this is for.

Yes — the good kind.
